Root beer glasses

It was time. Time to get new glasses. Check 'em out. Brown like root beer.

Oh baby

We were lucky enough to meet the newest addition to the Flannery clan over the weekend. Our good friends Will and Quinn have a new baby sister. Say hello to Nora.

"That was awesome!" Charley exclaimed. Even though she was really sleepy, it was super cool to hold her.

We'll be back soon, for sure.

"Maybe when Quinny grows up... we can live with her."
- Jackson explains at breakfast.

"And Quinny can grow the baby... and the baby can have two Daddies."

You'll never guess

We used a mortar and pestle for the first time at breakfast the other day.

You'll never guess what for.

Ground PEZ on toast, of course.

They do what on water?

We can't even do that on land, how on earth?

Boating, snacking, fishing

We hit the beach last weekend with Grandma and Bumpa. We brought our boats . . .

. . . a snack . . .

. . . but forgot our fishing poles. That makes catching fish very hard. They don't like to be chased.

"Mommy, when I grow up, I'm going to be an artist."
- Charley tells Mommy as he's painting a picture at the easel - his new favorite pastime.

"Oh, really?!"
- Mommy asks in surprise because in preschool two short months ago, the teachers and he agreed that he never liked doing art projects.

"Yup. I'm going to work at the art museum, and hang my paintings on the walls, and the people are not going to believe their eyes. They're not going to believe their eyes because my paintings will be so beautiful. They're not going to believe their eyes."
- Charley said (not so) humbly.

Awesome A's

Our baseball season is over. It ended on a hot afternoon, 90-plus weather, terrible humidity and we got to play two. This is our Awesome A's team and what a great team we were.

After the second game, we each got a medal for playing and learning the whole season.

We had a really great time this year.

Lunch and a show

The city is finally doing something with all the storm debris they let residents pile up in a nearby parking lot. It's not possible to fathom the size of the wood chipper they brought in. It's nearly the size of a train engine. It puts Bumpa's wood chipper to shame. Naturally we had to eat our lunch in the shade and watch.

Perhaps they should have brought in more than just one. That pile is HUGE.

A real jungle gym

There's a great park within a bike ride from our house. It's actually one of the elementary schools and it backs up to a large wooded area. The best part, they left downed trees in there as a jungle gym for kids.

Courage

The high dive is REALLY high. Charley gave it try, Jackson did not. "I'll try it again when I'm six-and-a-half," Charley said. "I'll try it when I'm seven-and-a-half, maybe when I'm six, but probably when I'm seven-and-a-half," Jackson said.

Neighborhood noise

Apparently we now have an annual Fourth of July parade. Our loyal followers sure didn't miss it.

We gathered with lots of friends, found all our instruments, and made as much noise as possible.

It was lots of run, but REALLY hot with the afternoon sun beating down and temperatures around 100.

We walked all the way around our block.

We even ran a little bit too . . .

. . . and when we got back, we hit the water slide . . .

. . . and that's when the party really started. It was so awesome.

It even ended awesome, with patriotic cake pops.

Fish

Some say we swim like them.
