REAL sledding . . . finally

We finally went on our first real sledding outing of the year. It was awesome.

There was definitely enough snow, maybe too much. We struggled to get to the hill . . .

. . . then Daddy had to pull us down the first time just to make a path for us. Otherwise we got stuck.

Once the path was made, Mommy pushed us and down we went. It was so fun . . .

. . . except the climbing back up part. Even that was worth it though, because . . .

. . . once we got back to the top, we got to do down all over again.

There were some crashes, usually followed by an exhaustion necessitated break.

Glow in the dark art

What's better than an easel? Not much . . .

. . . but one that glows in the dark when you draw comes pretty close.

Please come again Santa

Christmas is awesome. Can we celebrate Christmas everyday?

Mountain exploring

With all the snow, the piles are getting REALLY high. We love climbing up to the top of them.

It can be quite a challenge. That's why it's important to wear a "helmet".

It's also important to stay well-nourished. A snow snack definitely hit the spot. Maybe if we eat enough of it Daddy will have more places to put it when it snows again.

Science rocks

We made a trip to the Science Museum, only our second one ever. It was so cool.

There's an exhibit of geometric climbing structures. You can imagine how much time we spent there.

It was awesome climbing all over those things.

We went from exhibit to exhibit. We didn't make it through them all because we kept getting distracted by some of the cooler things like the tornado maker.

It was an amazing experience. We can't wait to go again. Thanks for the membership Grandma Jean and Grandpa John. When will you come with us?

Instant gratification

Christmas was a day of new toys. We got some new bikes from Grandpa Stro and Grandma Cathy and we just had to try them out. It didn't matter how cold or how deep the snow was outside.

It was an awesome day for a bike ride.

Mommy and Daddy better get used to this view. There will be a lot more chasing in their future.

All that bike riding worked up quite an appetite. We inhaled our cheesy egg pie (a.k.a. quiche) using our new plates and construction utensils. The plates are a construction zone and there's a "fork lift", a "digger", and a "pusher".

We spent a lot of time on Christmas sitting in our new bean bag chairs that Grandma
Jean and Grandpa John gave. They are a super-awesome place to read a story together.

Uff da. Christmas is exhausting

Up at 6, for Santa's gifts.
All presents opened by 8.
We certainly were not late.

Sleigh bells and a headlock

We visited Santa Claus this morning. And as we've been saying for weeks, we told him we want sleigh bells from Santa's sleigh for Christmas. "We'll see," he said before . . .

. . . putting Jax in a headlock.

It wasn't that tight. Jax easily escaped and we took a little picture with the bearded one.

After our visit with Mr. C, we did a little last minute shopping before Christmas Day.

Bring it Santa

We're ready. We left Santa Claus a lovely note signed by all of us . . .

. . . and a plate full of cookies.

From a nostalgic Daddy, when did they become kids who have bean bag chairs and bikes with training wheels?

What a party

We had 10 of our friends over, some of their parents and siblings came as well. Together we each made a gingerbread house. It was so much fun.

The works was intense . . .

. . . very intense.

So much talent in one room

Charley and Jackson

The only thing . . .

. . . that might have been better than spending time with our friends making our gingerbread houses . . .

. . . was eating them. But honestly, it's a toss-up. We had an awesome time.

Overheard: December 22, 2010

"Santa left some presents at our house early for you."
- says "Mr. Wayne," our neighbor.

"That's cool, Mr. Wayne! That's cool."
- says Charley.

Silly pie

One of the other best gifts Grandma and Bumpa got us is this sticky goop with a dinosaur stuck inside.

You have to peel off the sticky stuff to get at the dinosaur.

Grandma kept calling it silly putty. We have no idea what that is. So instead, we call it silly pie because, well, why not?

Tracks

Grandma and Bumpa have a big picture window that looks out onto their "lake" (Mommy is not convinced it's a lake). Bumpa showed us all the different animal tracks in the snow between the house and the "lake".

Voices of angles. Bells of . . . ?

We had another holiday concert with our preschool friends. Everything went off without a hitch, just have your earplugs ready for the bells at the end. We played them as loud as we could.

Holiday humor

Not funny, Daddy.
